Faith
It would be impossible to have confidence and authority over my own medical decisions (whether with or without input from licensed medical professionals), if not for my belief in God, the greatest healer that ever walked the earth, Jesus Christ, and my experience of receiving key insight from the Holy Spirit regarding my health.

In my journey of faithfully seeking medical solutions to various conditions and injuries, I have amassed thousands of hours of empirical evidence regarding outcomes for my own body. I have gained insight from the help of many doctors, but I have also found many doctors to have contempt when I present a new idea they don’t understand, or weren’t taught in school, or simply don’t allow for the possibility that a patient would have intimate knowledge of their own condition that may supersede the limited knowledge and expertise that even a trained doctor might claim over another person’s authority of their own health experience.

It takes a tremendous amount of faith to hold fast to one’s own convictions, to hold fast to one’s own theories supported through thousands of hours of empirical observations, in the face of direct opposition from another person claiming medical authority in that area. This is when faith is essential, faith in an all-knowing God who knows more than any human on earth, and faith that such a God speaks to us each to impart knowledge on an intimate level. This kind of faith results in a humility to explore this intimately imparted knowledge on our own, and/or in collaboration with medical professionals, regardless of what others may think. This faith also emboldens us to always hold onto the insights and victories we learn through the intimate spiritual communion with the One who formed us in our mother’s womb, the God who gave us the miracle of life, the miracle of healthy functioning of our bodies, and the miracle of healing according to His desire, His love, and His plans for us. The humility to acknowledge this great miracle that is outside of ourselves, is the same that results in a tremendous level of confidence to overcome any health challenge.

The element of faith is the deepest and most complex part of taking authority over one’s own health. There are many excellent doctors who understand the importance for each patient to take ownership of the faith element necessary for maintaining one’s own health.
