Voice
The things we speak have a great impact on our life. Just as our thoughts and emotions motivate the actions we choose to undertake, spurring us into action (or perhaps inaction), so the outward expressions we make into the atmosphere around us initiate the shifts, movements, responses, and constructions that manifest into tangible progress and development of every aspect of our lives. Health, faith, family, purpose, career, love, and legacy are all built upon the outward expressions we make into the world.

Our voice is not necessarily just the literal definition of sound waves resonating from the air of our lungs passing across our vocal cords. Speaking words, humming, or singing are powerful ways of expressing ourselves and our creativity. Yet, our outward expressions may also be in the form of the written word, facial expressions, body language, body movements like dance or athletic pursuits, or through the sounds of a musical instrument. Our voice may be outwardly expressed simply by showing up with our physical presence at a particular time, place, meeting, or event, by expressing agreement or disagreement, or through negotiation, allegiance, competition, legal battle, or even escalate to fighting or warfare to advance a cause or interests of a person, union, group, or nation. Outward expressions of music, words, sounds, movements, or actions can all be defining characteristics of our voice.

The importance of voice for every individual is that the daily ongoing expression of one’s voice activates responses from the world around us. We can express our voice for constructive or destructive purposes, for blessings or curses, in harmony or in opposition, or conversely withhold our voice in silence, passivity, or indifference. The essential aspect of one’s voice: it is the mechanism by which outcomes are achieved, the degree to which one’s individuality makes a mark upon the world, upon the community of humanity.

Every voice has influence, whether quiet and subtle, or bold and prominent. Individual desired outcomes may range from obscure contentment to outspoken leadership. In this sense, our voice is the final frontier of our health and well-being. It is not automatic that the habits and ingrained tendencies of our voice expressions necessarily line up with our greatest or deepest needs or with our true life purpose. There is a training or a re-training of our voice expressions we must actively undertake to set the course of our life firmly on the path of our life purpose. The individuality of our voices are each as unique as our purpose in life, and the seasoned expression of our voice will bring our purpose into its fullness.
