Purpose
No person on this planet was meant to merely take up space, breathe, consume, excrete, and just do nothing. Every single person has a purpose. The beauty of life is all wrapped up in discovering our existence, our uniqueness, and seeking out a purpose we were created to fulfill throughout the journey of our lifetime.

There are few things more debilitating than a lack of purpose. Without a sense of purpose, there is a void in our experience of daily life that can balloon into depression and defeat. It may be as subtle as a nagging feeling of unfulfillment, or as pervasive as an all-encompassing feeling of despair and hopelessness. Whether it manifests slowly or suddenly, this can cause great harm to our health.

Conversely, few things are more empowering and life-giving than a strong sense of purpose! It is a valuable investment of time to ponder, explore, and to seek out the purpose for one’s own life. Well-meaning friends or family members may offer advice, suggestions, or opinions about what your purpose may be, but discovering your purpose is a personal process. It may take trying many different activities, reading books, taking notes, journaling your experiences, visiting different places, or setting foot into various environments. On the other hand, a strong sense of purpose may suddenly arrive with clarity.

The experience of discovering one’s purpose inevitably fulfills a spiritual dimension of life. The fresh influx of vigor and determination to tackle anew the challenges of each day bursts forth mysteriously from the depths of our purpose like a never-ending well. Our purpose is a continual source fueling our passion for living each day to the fullest. It is like a fire that refuses to go out no matter how much the world around us tries to extinguish our efforts or resolve; a fire crackling and sparkling with heat and light than can withstand repeated dousings of disappointment, negativity or failure. Any venture or path in life worth pursuing is sure to be met with resistance and will draw opposition, adversaries, and setbacks. As such, a strong sense of purpose is vital to one’s health and well-being.
